About the Myers’ Cocktail
The Myers’ Cocktail treatment is a popular wellness treatment that is designed to deliver hydration, nutrients, and vitamins into the bloodstream through the use of an IV drip. IV hydration has been shown to hydrate the body faster than oral ingestion, as the fluids and nutrients are delivered straight to the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract. (1) The Myers’ Cocktail is named after its creator, Dr. John Myers, and contains a specialized blend of magnesium, calcium, B-complex vitamins, and vitamin C. These ingredients were chosen based on their abilities and roles to help improve energy production, immune function, and overall cellular health and metabolism.
Magnesium
Magnesium is an essential mineral in the body and is a factor in more than 300 enzymatic reactions. Magnesium regulates muscle contraction and blood sugar levels, as well as assists with the pumping of blood. (2) As magnesium is involved in multiple of the body’s various functions, a magnesium deficiency may lead to significant implications, such as an increased risk of insulin resistance, irritability, tremors, and an increased risk of seizures.
Calcium
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, composing the structure of bones and teeth, while also aiding in muscle function, blood vessel contraction, nerve transmission, hormonal secretion, and more. (3) A calcium deficiency can reduce one’s bone strength, leading to the potential formation of osteoporosis, or fragile bones, as well as the development of osteomalacia, or the softening of bones. This can increase the risk of falling, fractures, and dental concerns.
Vitamin B
The B vitamins, sometimes referred to as the B-complex vitamins, are organic compounds that help enhance specific functions in the body. B vitamins are water-soluble and are not stored in the body. This means patients need to consume these vitamins to experience their health benefits and effects. (4)
The following B vitamins may be included in our Myers’ Cocktail IV treatment:
- Vitamin B1 (Thiamine): Enhances mental clarity and focus and aids in muscle relaxation.
- Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin): Used to help increase energy production, cellular function, and metabolism.
- Vitamin B3 (Niacin): Vitamin B3 is converted into a molecule that can help with energy production, DNA repair, and the maintenance and improvement of healthy skin.
- Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid): Pantothenic acid helps the body metabolize fat cells and can also help enhance the appearance of the skin and hair.
- Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine): Assists with the production and metabolization of amino acids while also supporting the immune system and brain function.
- Vitamin B7 (Biotin): Helps enzymes metabolize consumed fat, carbohydrates, and proteins, while also improving the overall health of one’s hair, skin, and nails.
- Vitamin B9 (Folate): Folate helps metabolize protein, breaks down amino acids, and helps with the creation of DNA and RNA in the body. Vitamin B9 is especially beneficial for pregnant women as it is the B vitamin most needed during pregnancy.
- Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin): Vitamin B12 helps with the formation of red blood cells and DNA. It also helps improve one’s brain and organ function.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C, also known as L-ascorbic acid, is well known for enhancing the immune system. Vitamin C helps with the production of white blood cells, which are essential for fighting off disease and infection. Additionally, vitamin C is essential for collagen synthesis. Collagen is a structural protein known for providing strength and elasticity to the skin and other connective tissues and is essential for wound healing. (5)

Preparation
While there is minimal preparation needed before a Myers’ Cocktail treatment, we recommend that patients stay hydrated by drinking a sufficient amount of water before their treatment. On the day of the appointment itself, patients should opt for loose, breathable clothing that allows for easy access to the arms.
Procedure
On the day of the appointment, each patient will be led to a private seating area. Our specialist will cleanse and sterilize each patient’s arm before carefully inserting a catheter into the vein. The specialist will then attach IV tubing to the catheter, which is connected to a bag containing the Myers’ Cocktail infusion. As the solution drips steadily into the bloodstream, patients are asked to relax and sit comfortably throughout the treatment. The duration of each session can range from 30 to 60 minutes, with the number of treatments needed depending on each patient’s health condition.
Recovery & Results
Following their treatment, we recommend that patients allow themselves some time to rest after their procedure. This can help each individual’s body recover and absorb the newly delivered nutrients.
Some patients will be able to experience the effects of their treatment immediately, while others may notice their effects over the following week. Patients may experience results such as an improvement in energy levels, reduced muscle tension, replenished hydration, and enhanced mental clarity. Additional effects, such as a strengthened immune system and an improvement in the skin’s appearance, may become more apparent up to 24-48 hours following the appointment once the body has absorbed all the vitamins and nutrients.
Athletes who receive the Myers’ Cocktail IV may also report quicker recovery times after games and workouts due to the direct delivery of essential nutrients into the bloodstream.
