Restylane

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Marin, San Francisco, Sonoma and Napa

If you’ve struggled with the gradual appearance of deeper wrinkles and lines on your face in recent years, you are not alone. Restylane is an effective dermal filler that reduces the appearance of facial wrinkles and fine lines. Restylane’s main ingredient is hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring acid  in skin that helps maintain elasticity and hydration. With age, the body produced less HA and collagen, resulting in sagging skin and wrinkles. HA is used in many of our skincare products for topical hydration, and works very well to plump the skin. Subdermally, Restylane injections provide a minimally-invasive solution for those looking to restore volume and combat wrinkles.

At Plastic Surgery Specialists (PSS) in Greenbrae, we use Restylane to treat a variety of concerns, including lip enhancement, tear troughs, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and cheek augmentation. Our team of experienced aesthetic nurses will work with you to create a customized treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals. We look at your unique facial features and proportions to enhance your natural beauty.

If you are interested in Restylane injections or other non-surgical treatment options, contact PSS at (415) 925-2880 or fill out a simple inquiry form on our website to schedule a consultation. Our team will guide you through the process, answer any questions you may have, and ensure you feel confident and comfortable throughout the entire experience.

About Restylane

As we age, our skin loses elasticity and volume, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Restylane is an excellent option for those seeking an anti-aging treatment that can reduce wrinkles, restore volume, and enhance facial features without undergoing surgery. (1)

Restylane is offered in several formulations, each with a different viscosity and purpose. .

What Are the Most Common Uses for Restylane?

Restylane is most commonly used to treat moderate-to-severe wrinkles and lines in the mid and lower face. One of the most popular uses of Restylane is to enhance your  lips. It restores  volume and definition to thin lips, creating a fuller, more youthful appearance. Additionally, Restylane is commonly used to target specific problem areas such as fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, restore lost volume in the cheeks, and smooth out deep folds in the face.

Benefits

  • Facial Rejuvenation: Restylane  restores lost volume, smooths wrinkles and fine lines, and gives a more youthful appearance.
  • Wrinkle Reduction: Restylane fills deep-set wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and softens the appearance of crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles.
  • Skin Hydration: Restylane improves  the hydration and plumpness of your skin, making it look brighter, smoother, and more supple.
  • Lip Enhancement: Restylane is used to add volume, shape, and definition to your lips, giving you a fuller, more sensual pout.

  • A blood clotting disorder
  • Allergies  to any of its ingredients
  • Any   severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding patients

Personal Consultation

During your consultation, one of our experienced aesthetc nurses clarifies your concerns and discusses your desired outcomes. The nurse will examine your facial structure and skin quality to determine if Restylane is the best option for you. Our staff will explain the hyaluronic acid-based filler in detail, how it works, and what results you can expect. We will also discuss any potential risks or side effects associated with the procedure.

Preparation

Preparation for any dermal filler treatment is a simple process that may involve the following.

  • Discontinuing blood thinners, supplements, and other medications as instructed by your surgeon.
  • Avoiding alcohol, aspirin, and anti-inflammatory drugs for at least two days before the procedure to reduce the risk of bruising.
  • Informing your surgeon of any allergies or previous adverse reactions to similar treatments.
  • Expect the treatment to take approximately 30 minutes, and plan accordingly.
  • Understandresults are not permanent and may require touch-ups in the future.

Procedure

Dermal filler injections are  very straightforward at PSS. The Restylane injection process is relatively quick and painless, with minimal downtime. Our skilled injectors will use a fine needle to carefully place the filler into the targeted areas of your face. We also offer topical numbing cream to ensure maximum comfort during the procedure. The length of your procedure will depend on the type of filler you choose and the number of areas targeted. However, most sessions last no longer than 30 minutes.

Recovery & Results

We recommend avoiding strenuous activities for at least 24 hours after treatment and avoiding alcohol, blood-thinning medications, and supplements such as fish oil, vitamin E, and aspirin for one week before and after treatment to reduce the risk of bruising. We also suggest avoiding extreme temperatures, including hot tubs, saunas or steam rooms, and direct sunlight for the first few days.

You’ll notice results immediately following the injections, and over time, they will become more pronounced as the filler settles into place. Restylane typically lasts between six months to one year, with some formulations lasting up to 18 months, depending on the patient’s metabolism and injection sites.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Juvederm Voluma XC

Juvederm Voluma XC is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that is FDA-approved for cheek augmentation. Like Restylane, a benefit of Juvederm Voluma XC is its ability to restore volume to areas of the face that may have lost fullness over time. This includes the cheeks, chin, and temples, which are common areas that contribute to an aged appearance. By restoring volume, patients can achieve a more youthful and refreshed look.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a popular and effective facial volumizing filler that is made of calcium hydroxylapatite. This dermal filler is used to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging, as well as to add volume and contour to the face. Radiesse is an FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment that stimulates collagen production, which helps to naturally rejuvenate the skin.

Sculptra

Sculptra is a popular and effective cosmetic treatment that addresses facial volume loss using a biocompatible, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) dermal filler. It provides gradual results that appear over several weeks or months. This is because the PLLA microspheres stimulate collagen production, which takes time to produce noticeable changes in the skin. However, the gradual nature of the results means that they appear natural-looking and subtle, avoiding the “overdone” look that some patients may fear. Sculptra is also used for buttock enhancement and is a great nonsurgical alternative to a fat transfer, or BBL.
