Marin County Plastic Surgeons to Study Minimizing Pain After Breast Implant Surgery

Plastic Surgery Specialists is a state of the art aesthetic plastic surgery clinic in Marin Co.,CA. As board-certified plastic surgeons with a special interest and expertise in beast augmentation in the San Francisco Bay area, Drs. Stanley Poulos and Yngvar Hvistendahl are undertaking a double-blind study to assess the optimal way to minimize discomfort after breast implant surgery. This clinical study will determine the value of utilizing a tiny "pain pump" placed at the surgery to drip in local anesthetic for 36 hours after surgery. Although this modality has been used for some time, there is little scientific data regarding its efficacy.

For women seeking implant surgery in the North Bay area, Santa Rosa, Napa, Sonoma, Vacaville, Fairfield, Sacramento, Stockton, East Bay and San Francisco there is an option for low cost breast augmentation if they qualify to enroll in the study. Plastic Surgery Specialists will underwrite the costs of the silicone implants and pain pumps for study patients resulting in a savings of $2400. Of course all study participants must be appropriate candidates for this surgery and undergo complete screening and informed consent. Enrollment for this study will close July 31 with surgery to be completed by Dec 31.
