Micro Laser Peels

MLP’s are an excellent treatment for people with uneven pigmentation, wrinkles and skin laxity. Micro Laser Peels utilize an Erbium laser to resurface the epidermis (the top layer of the skin) resulting in a more uniform color, softening, or even eliminating fine lines. It also addresses enlarged pores, and results in a much softer and even skin texture. Most people report some tightening to the treated skin as well. The MLP is a treatment that may be performed in a series, depending on the severity of the condition being treated. It is often combined with the Profractional laser and with appropriate anesthesia the depth can be adjusted to achieve the desired result.

ProFractional Treatment

This laser is not to be confused with a product called the "Fraxel", which requires multiple treatments. We offer Sciton's Profractional laser treatment, which, if performed deeply enough, and is combined with either a BBL or an MLP at the same time, usually requires only one or two treatments. The Profractional is remarkably unpainful and the down time is far shorter than those done with traditional laser resurfacing. Most people require 3-5 days for full resolution of the redness and swelling that can occur.
The Profractional utilizes an Erbium Yag Laser to partially remove damage at the surface of the skin. Most importantly, the laser is able to penetrate below the surface of the skin into the dermis where collagen and elastin exists. These are the support structures of your skin that are damaged by UV radiation, exposure to environment pollutants and normal aging. With a finely controlled treatment to these structures, the removal of fine lines, deep wrinkles, and shrinkage of enlarged pores, an overall improvement in the texture and tone of the skin is achieved. The Profractional also improves the laxity, deep folds and sagging of the skin. It is also ideal for the treatment of acne and its residual scarring.

Persons who should not have these procedures:
  • Anyone with autoimmune disease or connective tissue disorder
  • Presently, or about to become pregnant
  • Recently suntanned skin (including tanning beds and self-tanners)
  • Use of Acutane/Isotrentinoin within the last 6 months
  • Anyone on photosensitizing medications or herbs
  • Active Herpes episode or other current skin infection
  • A history of photosensitivity

Broad Band Light

Often referred to as an "IPL" or "FotoFacial", Sciton's Photodynamic Skin Rejuvenation treatment is called the BBL (Broadband Light). BBL treatments utilize intense pulsed light, which is filtered and programmed to seek certain colors, either reds (i.e., Rosacea, broken capillaries or red spots, etc.), or browns (i.e. uneven pigmentation and brown spots), or both, and selectively destroy them. BBL treatments consist of a series, usually spaced three weeks apart and most people will require 3-5 treatments. Even after your first treatment, your skin will look better. By the end of the series most people report a more uniform and even skin tone.
