Breast Enhancement Options for Mothers

The options available to women who are considering a Mommy Makeover at our Marin County practice can be overwhelming. Nearly all Mommy Makeovers, which combine several procedures into one operation, involve some sort of breast enhancement. Some women find it difficult to decide which option will suit them best, so we’ve broken down the information here:

  • Breast augmentation uses implants to add volume to the breasts. Today’s implants are available in numerous combinations of shapes, sizes, textures, and profiles for a completely customized look that can be as dramatic as you wish. Breast augmentation is popular with Santa Rosa-area women whose breasts have lost volume or “deflated” after pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Breast lift surgery lifts the patient’s natural breast tissue for a higher, more youthful-looking placement on the chest and nipples, which should point forward instead of downward. A breast lift is a good option for women who are happy with the size of their breasts but bothered by sagging.
  • Breast reduction uses sophisticated surgical techniques to remove extra tissue from the breasts and reduce the size of the areolas for a perkier appearance and fewer physical symptoms, such as back pain. Breast reduction is appropriate for women whose breasts never returned to their regular size after pregnancy or for women who have long been bothered by their large breasts.
  • Breast revision is a type of surgery that improves upon the outcome of a previous surgery. Breast revision can correct complications, such as capsular contracture, from a previous breast augmentation. Some women also choose to undergo breast revision to replace or remove old implants. We offer a few different options to ensure you get the result you’ve always wanted.

It’s common for women to incorporate more than 1 of these procedures into their Mommy Makeovers, such as by combining a lift and augmentation or a lift and reduction. We can help you determine which options would work best for you during a consultation at our center of excellence.
