Rhinoplasty - San Francisco
This procedure improves facial balance by matching the size and shape of the nose to your face. This is often performed in conjunction with chin or cheek implants. Unlike face lifting, which restored facial appearance to a previous state, rhinoplasty changes skeletal structure and sometime results in an appearance quite different prior to surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Do all nasal surgeries create the “nose-job look”?
A: No, to the contrary, skillful nasal surgery does not call it to itself. One notices a beautiful nose on an individual. We tend to see noses that are out of proportion to the face. In other words a large hump or a drooping tip or wide fleshy nose in a thin face. The goal of nasal surgery is to match the size of the nose to the face and then all the parts of the nose to each other.
Q: How is nasal surgery done?
A: Most nasal surgeries today are performed utilizing what is called an open technique. Through a tiny incision across the under surface of the nose the skin is separated from the skeleton and very exact changes made in the shape. This creates more control in the changes made. For many years every patient had the same nasal surgery regardless of their size or facial shape. Modern surgeries strives to create balance.
Q: Should I have a chin implant at the same time as nasal surgery?
A: Again, this depends on facial balance. A very large nose with a receding chin would perhaps be better corrected by advancing the chin and reducing the nose rather than over operating on the nose alone. Chin implants can be placed via a very small incision and sized to create a natural result for the individual. In some cases, cheek implants may be suggested to create a better facial balance as well.
Q: What is the recovery from nose or chin surgery?
A: Normally, there will be a plastic splint on the nose for 4-7 days. Once the splint is removed, bruising is usually minimal and results are apparent almost immediately. Final resolution of swelling may require a few weeks and there may be some numbness or minor swelling for several months. However, today’s techniques allow return to normal activity within days and packing the nose with extensive swelling and bruising is very unusual.
